After two years of absence in Finland, it was clear the Super Test of the Grand Prix of Finland would meet a great success! 4 000 spectators went to the Motocross Track of Heinola to attend to the show.
Talking about show, it starts from the Youth Cup where Erik APPELQVIST (S – Yamaha) set the best time (1’43”88) ahead of Enric FRANCISCO (E – KTM) and Jean-Baptiste NICOLOT (F – Yamaha). In fact, Jack EDMONDSON (GB – KTM) was the fastest on the track but, as he started two seconds early, he received a 5 seconds penalty…
As in Greece, Josep GARCIA (E – Husqvarna) made a huge noise in Junior, 1’36”06, leading over provisional number 1 in the class, Giacomo REDONDI (I – Honda) and a surprisingly blond Davide SORECA (I – Honda)!
Only four riders in the EnduroGP could beat the time of GARCIA! First, it was Alex SALVINI (I – Beta) who had a lot to do against Loïc LARRIEU (F – Yamaha).
The French scored the second overall time: 1’35”06! Then came the US guy Taylor ROBERT (KTM – 1’35”62) who completely dominates Johnny AUBERT (F – Beta). And finally the specialist of this kind of test: Mathias BELLINO (F – Husqvarna)!
Impressive from start to finish, the Husqvarna rider wins the ST with a 1 second 18 lead (1’33”88) over his fellow LARRIEU and signs his third Super Test in a row.
Note also the victory of Laïa SANZ (E – KTM) in Women Cup and mostly the nice second position of Finn’s Sanna KARKKAINEN (KTM) over Jane DANIELS (GB – Husqvarna).
No doubt, this first test of the Grand Prix of Finland met a great success on the sport side and also on the spectators’ side and it promises us some very nice things for this weekend. See you tomorrow for the 4th stage of the season that must be intense and exhausting!
